Los Robles Children's Choir

Touring Choir at Canterbury Cathedral

Our Mission

The mission of the Los Robles Children’s Choir is to strive for excellence in choral singing by awakening and encouraging the artistry in each child. This exploration of the children’s artistic essence takes place in an atmosphere of mutual respect and encouragement. The performances give the singers an opportunity to share their musical achievements and artistic sensitivities with an audience.

Who We Are

The Los Robles Children’s Choir is a music performance and education program for children and youth that emphasizes the development of musical skills and understanding. Singing is the major focus of the musical experience. We hope this experience will form the foundation of a life-long relationship with music for the singers and their families.

No prior musical training is required to begin in this 4-tiered program. The children receive vocal instruction and music theory lessons as a part of their weekly rehearsals.

Repertoire is selected according to each choir’s level of skill and encompasses a wide range of musical styles. While singing everything from classical works to folk song arrangements, the children learn various styles of music as well as many languages. In addition to presenting its own concerts, the Choir makes frequent appearances with the Los Robles Master Chorale. The Choir has performed major works for choir and orchestra with the new West Symphony at the Civic Arts Plaza and the Oxnard Performing Arts Center as well as with Cantori Domino and orchestra in Los Angeles. The children have sung under the direction of many world-renown conductors including Paul Salamunovich, Sir David Willcocks, Henry Leck, Z. Randall Stroope, Vance George and David Flood. The choir has sung in London, Canterbury, Salzburg, Vienna, Prague, and Mainz, Denver, and Carnegie Hall in New York City.

The choir is a non-profit organization funded by individuals, parents, foundations and corporations.

As a result of a child’s association with the choir, parents can expect him/her to develop:

1) A lifetime appreciation of choral music through musical performance; 2) Musical and vocal skills; 3) Poise, confidence, self-discipline, and team skills; 4) Friendships with like-minded children and their parents; 5) True self-esteem based on personal accomplishments.
